Job summary

Our client, a respected institutional investment organization, seeks a Data Analyst focused on Investment Operations in Charlottesville. You will deliver high-quality investment data and analytics to support mission-driven nonprofits, reporting to the Director of Investment Operations & Risk Management.

In this hybrid role (2x/week on-site), you will handle NAVs, liquidity, and performance data while exploring growth into private markets.

Qualifications

• BA/BS is required or preferred.
• Excel proficiency required; SQL or Power BI a plus.
• Strong attention to detail and data quality.
• Experience in investment operations or data operations is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Extract alternative investment data from investment documents using internal and AI-assisted tools.
• Interpret, classify, and validate extracted data for accuracy and completeness; resolve exceptions and edge cases.
• Reconcile across systems and investigate discrepancies in NAVs, transactions, and performance.
• Maintain liquidity models and waterfalls at the asset-class and portfolio level.
• Evaluate prospective data providers and continuously improve workflows, automation, and reliability.

Our client is a highly respected institutional investment organization supporting mission-driven nonprofits through investment management, portfolio oversight, and operations. Reporting to the Director of Investment Operations & Risk Management, you’ll deliver high-quality investment data and analytics that nonprofit clients rely on to fund their missions. Strong role for someone detail-obsessed who wants to grow into private-markets and alternative-investment analytics.

What You’ll Work On

• Extract alternative investment data (NAVs, transaction details) from investment documents using internal and AI-assisted tools
• Interpret, classify, and validate extracted data for accuracy and completeness; resolve exceptions and edge cases
• Reconcile across systems and investigate discrepancies in NAVs, transactions, and performance
• Maintain liquidity models and waterfalls at the asset-class and portfolio level
• Evaluate prospective data providers and continuously improve workflows, automation, and reliability

What We’re Looking For

• 1-4 years in investment operations, investment accounting, data operations, or performance reporting
• Exceptional attention to detail and a strong commitment to data quality
• Comfort working with large datasets across multiple platforms
• Excel proficiency; SQL or Power BI a plus
• Interest in private markets / alternative investments (NAV, capital calls, distributions, liquidity terms)
• Bonus: Caissa, Solovis, or Burgiss
• Minimum BA/BS; experience in an institutional investment office (OCIO, endowment, foundation, or investment consultant) preferred
• Hybrid 2x/week in Charlottesville, VA; no relocation, no sponsorship
