Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services is seeking a data analyst to create and run queries, analyze data sets, and produce reports to support decision-making at a Texas state psychiatric hospital.

The role involves developing and maintaining relational databases, collaborating with clinicians and department heads, and supporting audits of the electronic medical record. Travel up to 20% may be required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, analytics, CS, or equivalent experience.
• At least 1 year experience in data analysis and query/report creation.
• Proficiency with relational DBMS and query languages.
• Knowledge of statistical measures and data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication; attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently under moderate supervision.

Job Summary

Responsible for creating and running queries, analyzing data sets, and producing reports and graphics that support decision‑making across a Texas state psychiatric hospital.

Responsibilities

• Generate routine and ad‑hoc reports for hospital management and external agencies.
• Develop, maintain, and troubleshoot relational database systems used across the facility.
• Collaborate with clinicians, department heads, and other stakeholders to clarify data needs and adjust existing or design new reports.
• Analyze data to identify outliers, monitor for irregularities, and support audits of the electronic medical record.
• Provide training and technical support to end‑users, ensuring accurate data entry and system usage.
• Participate as required in disaster response, recovery, or continuity of operations activities.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in data science, business analytics, computer science, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
• Minimum of one year of experience in data analysis, database software, and query/report creation.
• Proficiency with relational database management systems and query languages.
• Knowledge of statistical measures and their application to data analysis.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work independently under moderate supervision.

Additional Requirements

• Passing fingerprint criminal background check, drug screen, and required registry checks.
• Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and mandatory reporting for certain communicable diseases.
• Minimum age requirements: 18 years for most positions; 21 for Waco and Terrell Center applicants.
