Job description

Data Analyst

Mission:

Data Analysts provide data reporting and analysis, visualization, and dashboarding to support primary functional areas at IDEA. They ensure analytics are rigorous, timely, clear, and reproducible. Working cross-functionally, they are part of the Research and Analytics (R&A) team and collaborate with functional teams on prioritizing and managing analyses, requests, and research projects.

Location:

This is a full-time remote position based in Texas, with preference for candidates in Austin, El Paso, Houston, Permian Basin (Midland/Odessa), Rio Grande Valley, San Antonio, and Tarrant County (Fort Worth), or those willing to relocate.

Travel Expectations:

This role is primarily remote, but travel to IDEA training events or step-backs may be required.

What You’ll Do – Accountabilities

Essential Duties:

  • Create clear analyses highlighting trends and opportunities for improvement.
  • Partner with Information Systems and Software Development to verify data accuracy and timeliness.
  • Design reproducible reports to reduce re-analysis efforts.
  • Provide rapid turnaround for ad-hoc data requests.
  • Gather requirements from stakeholders for reports and analyses.
  • Use project management best practices to set expectations and deliver results.
  • Apply data visualization and reporting best practices to share findings.

Additional Duties:

  • Solicit feedback during product design.
  • Ensure R&A products are accessible.
  • Create actionable, time-sensitive reports.
  • Document data sources, statistical methods, and analysis lifecycle comprehensively.

Experience analyzing education-related data (student performance, school operations, alumni outcomes, etc.).

Communication:

Create clear reports for non-technical audiences, share insights, and deliver presentations effectively.

Professional Skills and Ethics:

  • Maintain confidentiality, provide excellent customer service, and work under pressure.
  • Assess risks, meet deadlines, and solve complex problems with attention to detail.

Required Experience:

Bachelor's Degree required.

Preferred Experience:

2+ years in data analysis and management roles. Note: We cannot sponsor work visas at this time.

What We Offer:

Salary range: $74,700 - $87,100, based on experience. Benefits include health plans, disability, life insurance, parental benefits, flexible spending, vacation, referral bonuses, professional development, and a 403(b) plan.
