Data Analysts are responsible for importing, transforming, and validating (or querying) data with the purpose of understanding or drawing conclusions from the data to drive decision-making. They may use modeling techniques to form data in ways that can be analyzed and/or queried to identify data quality issues, anomalies, or deviations. They generate ad hoc reports and regular datasets or report information for end-users using system tools, database or data warehouse queries, and scripts. They also integrate data from multiple sources to produce requested or required data elements. They work closely with business groups, IT verticals, and governance teams to provide information to drive data quality and usage decisions.

This role will sit with the Depot and Traffic business in Building 4 and will work directly with the VPs in the Depot and Traffic Operations area. The team will receive a prioritized list of items to deliver from the Vice-Presidents in the area. These may vary and may be re-prioritized based on business need. They are expected to provide full transparency of progress on any assigned efforts through an online backlog and tracking document shared with Depot/Traffic Operations and CDS team members. While the team reports into CDS, the daily assignments will be provided by the Depot/Traffic Vice Presidents.

The team is required to be in the office for five days per week (the first 90 days) with a majority of time spent in the office after that (Mondays in-office after the first 90 days are required based on business reporting needs). There may also be the need for Saturday work as well as travel to the depots.

ROLE
  1. Identifies and interprets trends, patterns, and correlations among various data points for Depot/Traffic operations.
  2. Analyzes data for quality and completeness in accordance with established data governance policy and standards.
  3. Develops scripts to report and extract data for analysis.
  4. Designs and creates the data reporting environment, including data sources, security, and metadata.
  5. Creates data quality control processes to audit extracted lists ensuring data governance is maintained on all processes.
  6. Performs data profiling and business analysis (logical modeling) to determine the most effective ways to measure and provide data.
  7. Applies statistical methods and visualization techniques in generating business insights.
  8. Provides insights as to the best means to analyze and combine multiple data sources to form accurate and meaningful datasets.
  9. Travels to depots may be required to better understand requirements and operations.
  10. Defines and ensures adherence to new process improvement opportunities.
  11. Performs testing and validation of data and data sources.
  12. Applies best practices and data governance to database and reporting solutions.
  13. Performs data mapping and tracing from system to system in order to solve a given business or system problem.
  14. Supports initiatives for data integrity and normalization.
  15. Provides technical expertise on migration, mining, and cleansing of data.
  16. Supports and informs data stewards and custodians to ensure quality of master data changes and additions.
  17. Prepares documentation of relationships, integration, and flow of data.
  18. Supports tooling for capturing and maintaining metadata elements within a repository.
  19. Identifies and resolves problems often anticipating issues before they occur or before they grow; develops and evaluates options and implements solutions.
REQUIRED
  1. 2-4 years of experience in industry-standard reporting tools and methodologies.
  2. A very strong sense of urgency and responsiveness in support of the Depot Vice Presidents.
  3. Strong analytical skills with the ability to collect, organize, analyze, and disseminate significant amounts of information with attention to detail and accuracy.
  4. Detail oriented and possess strong problem solving skills, with the ability to analyze a situation for potential future problems.
  5. Strong technical documentation and writing skills.
  6. Self-motivated and able to work independently, with little supervision.
  7. Demonstrates an ability to grow technical skills and learn new technologies.
  8. Able to support off-hours work as required, including weekends, holidays, and 24/7 on call responsibilities on a rotational basis.
  9. Strong verbal communication skills.
Recommended
  1. Proficient in PowerBI, Alteryx, and other reporting tools.
  2. Proficient in Google Workspace applications, including Sheets, Docs, Slides, and Gmail.

Pay Ranges:

  1. Level 1 - $36.06 - $48.08
  2. Level 2 - $90,000 - $120,000
  3. Level 3 - $110,000 - $140,000
  4. Level 4 - $130,000 - $160,000
