Data Analyst (Fraud Payments) - Long Term Project

Title: Data Analyst (Fraud Payments)
Location: Phoenix, AZ or Newark, DE
Duration: 6+ months long term project
Compensation: $33-37.00
Work Requirements: U.S. Citizen, GC Holders, or Authorized to Work in the U.S.

Description:

This is a high-visibility role to drive and optimize POS fraud strategy for cards and Zelle payments. You will own performance and evolution of the fraud rules engine, lead strategy development, rules optimization and decisioning governance across the portfolio.
In addition, you will support key enterprise transformation initiatives, ensuring fraud workstreams are aligned to strategy to strategic roadmaps, risks are escalated appropriately, and program milestones are delivered with disciplined governance. This position offers executive level accountability and the opportunity to materially influence fraud performance, decision strategy, and the successful execution of enterprise priorities.   • Lead and optimize POS fraud strategy and decisioning performance, owning the rules engine framework to drive fraud loss mitigation, approval rate optimization, and portfolio health while balancing customer experience and risk appetite.
  • Establish and govern fraud rules oversight and performance analytics, defining risk thresholds, monitoring key performance indicators, and implementing data-driven enhancements to strengthen control effectiveness and operational efficiency.
  • Partner cross-functionally to evolve fraud capabilities, collaborating with product, technology, operations, and compliance to modernize decisioning infrastructure and ensure alignment with enterprise risk strategy and regulatory expectations.
  • Support enterprise program management initiatives by leading fraud related workstreams, contributing to roadmap development, identifying risks and dependencies, and ensuring disciplined execution of strategic objectives.
  • Monthly and ad hoc reporting on business metrics and analytics assignments
  • Provide timely and accurate reporting to multiple departments across the company
  • Assist with the review, consolidation, and reduction of data discrepancies
  • Effectively communicate technical issues and their solutions to key stakeholders
  • Create and maintain process documentation
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum 5 years in financial services experience with deep knowledge of payment systems. Demonstrated ability to work in an enterprise-wide role and to lead through influence.
  • Minimum 3 years with Falcon (or comparable system) fraud strategy and rule writing
  • Minimum 3 years of experience using reporting/query tools such as Brio, MS Query, MS Access, Excel, Crystal Reports or Business Objects and Falcon system/scoring.
Additional Qualifications
  • Strong experience in payments or card fraud risk management, with demonstrated ownership of fraud strategy and decisioning performance
  • Deep expertise in fraud rules engine design, tuning, and optimization (e.g., FICO Falcon, TSYS, Actimize, or comparable platforms), with proven ability to materially improve fraud loss performance and approval optimization
  • Strong analytical background, with experience defining KPIs, monitoring portfolio performance, and translating data insights into strategic action
  • Working knowledge of regulatory expectations within card payments environments and ability to align fraud controls with enterprise risk appetite
  • Experience operating within enterprise program governance structures, contributing to roadmap planning, risk escalation, and executive reporting cadences
  • Proven experience leading complex, cross-functional fraud initiatives
  • Light to moderate skills with SAS or SQL, or other data management, reporting, and query tools
