About The Role

The Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) Analyst I - Data Analyst position is a vital role within the Data Analytics & Decision Support department at Sam Houston State University. This full-time, remote-capable position supports the Office of Data Analytics and Decision Support (DADS) by ensuring the integrity and accuracy of the university's data systems. The analyst will be responsible for collecting, analyzing, and interpreting data from various sources to produce comprehensive reports that inform strategic decision-making across the institution. The role requires collaboration with internal departments and external stakeholders to develop reporting procedures, verify data accuracy, and present insights through visualizations such as charts, graphs, and tables. This position offers an excellent opportunity for individuals passionate about data analysis and higher education to contribute meaningfully to the university’s operational and strategic initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Mathematics, Statistics, Management Information Systems, or a related field.
  • One year of experience in a data analysis or research position, with foundational knowledge of Excel, SQL, STATA, or similar tools.
  • Alternative experience performing data preparation, manipulation, statistical analysis, and reporting with graphs and pivot tables.
  • Experience in a higher education setting is a plus.
  • Knowledge of statistical software such as SPSS is preferred.
  • Proficiency with spreadsheet, word processing, and graphic software.
  • Familiarity with SQL and relational databases is advantageous.
  • Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.

Responsibilities

  • Collect, compile, edit, and analyze data from various sources to prepare statistical reports related to university operations.
  • Create reports incorporating charts, graphs, and tables to effectively communicate analysis results.
  • Assist in defining data needs for different university departments and develop standardized reporting procedures.
  • Verify data accuracy through validation and perform computations to ensure report integrity.
  • Proofread reports for consistency and clarity before dissemination.
  • Participate in meetings with university staff and external stakeholders to discuss data insights and reporting requirements.
  • Collaborate across departments to improve data collection and reporting processes.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned, demonstrating flexibility and initiative.
