Job summary

U.S. News & World Report is seeking a Data Analyst to safeguard data integrity for our education rankings. You will transform raw education data into actionable insights, supporting the accuracy and defensibility of methodologies.

You will collaborate with engineering, editorial, and product teams to refine data processes, validate results, and present clear analytics that inform rankings and guidance for students and families.

Qualifications

• Three years of professional experience in statistical programming.
• Bachelor’s degree in Statistics, Economics, Data Science, or a related quantitative field.
• Experience ingesting, cleaning, merging, and analyzing datasets.
• Ability to translate technical findings for non-technical stakeholders.
• Interest in advancing ranking methodologies and data quality.

Responsibilities

• Data Architecture & Logic: develop and refine code to process complex education datasets.
• Process Optimization & Automation: streamline data workflows and ranking calculations.
• Quality Assurance: audit data inputs and outputs for accuracy and reproducibility.
• Anomaly Detection & Validation: identify outliers and unexpected model behavior; explore AI-assisted approaches.
• Collaborative Problem Solving: work with technical, product, and editorial teams on rankings presentation.
