Job summary

The Cynosure Group seeks a Data Analyst to modernize and maintain its internal data infrastructure in Salt Lake City. You will lead the migration of an Access database to Azure, ensure data quality, and support MSCI Barra implementation for risk management. You will own data feeds and improve data workflows across teams.

Expect to build dashboards in Power BI and work closely with risk, front/back office, and client experience teams to enhance data-driven decision making.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Engineering, or a related quantitative field.
• 2–5 years of relevant professional experience.
• Proficiency in Python for data analysis and automation.
• Strong SQL skills, including querying, joins, and optimization.
• Experience with Microsoft Access, including database structure, queries, and forms/reports.
• Experience building reports and dashboards in Power BI.
• Proficiency in Excel, including formulas, pivot tables, and data analysis.
• Comfort working with large datasets and a strong attention to detail.
• Strong problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and support the team's internal database, currently built on Microsoft Access.
• Lead and support the ongoing migration of the database from Access to Azure.
• Identify, investigate, and resolve data quality issues through data cleaning and validation.
• Support the Risk Management team with the implementation of MSCI Barra, including ongoing maintenance, enhancement, and support following go-live.
• Own and maintain all data feeds, ensuring accuracy, timeliness, and reliability.
• Propose and implement process improvements to streamline data workflows and reporting.
• Build and maintain dashboards and reports using Power BI.
• Serve as a bridge between back office and front office teams on data needs and workflows.
• Partner with the Client Experience Team to develop and implement improved long-term approaches for retrieving data from the database.
• Write and optimize SQL queries to support data extraction, transformation, and analysis.
