Job summary

HeartFlow is seeking a Data Analyst to build and maintain HeartFlow’s data platform interfaces and BI layer. You will translate business questions into engineered data products, working with sales, marketing, finance, and medical education to deliver dashboards, reports, and semantic models.

You will handle analytical applications written in Python/JavaScript, develop Tableau dashboards, maintain a semantic model, and ensure data governance and quality across CRM and analytics sources.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, CS, Science, Business, or related field.
• 2+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or software development.
• Experience with Tableau or Salesforce.com (SFDC).
• Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining code in Python, JavaScript, or a comparable language.
• Experience working within a version-controlled development workflow and a formal code review process.
• Experience with semantic modeling layers implemented as code is a plus.
• Healthcare, medical device, or other regulated industry experience is a plus.

The Data Analyst builds and maintains the business‑facing layer of HeartFlow’s data platform — analytical applications, the reporting and visualization architecture, and the semantic model definitions that serve them. This is a hands‑on technical role combining application development with business intelligence architecture: work product includes code that is version controlled, peer reviewed, and deployed through continuous integration, as well as the dashboards, reports, and interfaces through which the business consumes it.

The role builds on data warehoused in Amazon Redshift, contributing to the semantic model, the reporting and visualization architecture, analytical applications, and the data quality validation and access governance around them. You will work directly with Sales, Marketing, Finance, Production, Compliance, Customer Success, and Medical Education, translating business questions into engineered, reusable data products rather than one‑off deliverables.

The role spans both engineering and business fluency. The same person who writes the application code is expected to sit with the stakeholder who will use it, understand the decision it supports, and stay with it through adoption and iteration. Work ranges from a governed dashboard consumed by sales leadership to a purpose‑built application that replaces a manual process outright.

Job Responsibilities

• Analytical Application Development: Design, build, and maintain business‑facing analytical applications and interfaces using Python and JavaScript. Own the development lifecycle including requirements, design, implementation, testing, deployment, and ongoing maintenance.
• Business Intelligence & Reporting: Develop and maintain the business‑facing reporting and visualization layer within Tableau — calculated field and parameter logic, dashboard design, and publishing and permissions management — building on the data sources and extract strategy designed by the Analytics Engineering function. Design dynamic and fluid visualizations for a wide range of stakeholder groups across all user levels, and create relevant measures and KPIs covering commercial performance, business performance indicators, pipeline management, and ad hoc strategic initiatives.
• Semantic Model Development: Author and extend Cube semantic model definitions as version‑controlled code, submitted through pull request review. Implement measures, dimensions, and views consistent with the function’s modeling conventions so that business metric definitions remain centrally governed and consistently consumed.
• CRM Data & Reporting: Design and maintain advanced reporting and analysis on Salesforce.com (SFDC) data, applying working knowledge of SFDC reporting structure, object‑field relationships, and the varied dynamics of the system. Support business users in the effective use of CRM reporting.
• Engineering Practice: Work within the function’s engineering operating model: Git‑based version control, branching strategy, pull request authorship and review, branch protection, and CI/CD through GitHub Actions. Participate in code review as both author and reviewer.
• Data Quality & Stewardship: Analyze and curate varied sources of data to address key business priorities. Maintain strong data integrity including routine QC and validation across the reporting and semantic suite, contribute to automated testing and data quality validation, and identify and elevate data defects in CRM and other source data consumed by function‑owned systems.
• Data Governance: Administer role‑based access control and row‑level security for function‑owned reporting and application assets in accordance with company data handling policy.
• Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Collaborate with wide‑ranging cross‑functional teams including sales and sales leadership, operations, customer success, marketing, finance, compliance, and medical education to facilitate data‑driven decisions.
• Ad Hoc Projects: Utilize classic SDLC and Agile processes to plan, manage, and execute ad hoc initiatives supporting various stakeholder groups.

Skills Needed

Required

• Strong SQL, including the ability to write, optimize, and reason about queries against a cloud data warehouse and a semantic layer.
• Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining production code in Python, JavaScript, or a comparable language — including application development, not solely scripting or notebook work.
• Proven experience with full cycle dashboard development in Tableau, including calculated fields, parameters, dashboard design, and publishing and permissions, working against data sources designed by others.
• Strong grasp of variable and function‑based calculations and the ability to design custom and dynamic metrics to shape and create various KPIs.
• Working knowledge of Salesforce.com (SFDC) reporting structure, object‑field relationships, and the varied dynamics of the system.
• Git‑based development workflow: branching, pull request authorship and review, and familiarity with CI/CD pipelines (GitHub Actions or equivalent).
• Experience creating dynamic and fluid modeling and visualizations for a wide range of stakeholder groups across all user levels.
• Excellent communication and presentation skills appropriate to the level of audience, including the ability to elicit requirements from non‑technical stakeholders.
• Ability to be extremely agile and deadline focused with a high degree of quality.

Preferred

• Familiarity with semantic modeling layers implemented as code (Cube, dbt Semantic Layer, LookML, or equivalent).
• Cloud data warehouse experience (Amazon Redshift or equivalent) as a consumer and modeler of warehoused data.
• Understanding of data access governance concepts, including role‑based access control and row‑level security.
• Data quality and validation practice, including QC methodology and automated testing concepts.
• Fundamental knowledge of object‑oriented programming.

Educational Requirements & Work Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Computer Science, Science, Business, or a related field, or equivalent relevant work experience.
• 2+ years of experience in business intelligence, analytics, or software development, including hands‑on development work.
• Experience with Tableau or equivalent BI software and Salesforce.com (SFDC).
• Demonstrated experience writing and maintaining code in Python, JavaScript, or a comparable language.
• Experience working within a version‑controlled development workflow and a formal code review process.
• Experience creating custom variable‑based logic functions.
• Experience with semantic modeling layers implemented as code a plus.

A reasonable estimate of the base salary compensation range is $110,000 to $140,000, and bonus.
