  • Proven capability to develop and automate data workflows and visualizations.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain peer benchmarking programs across production, capital efficiency, LOE and operating costs, supply chain performance, and asset-level metrics.
  • Build dashboards, reports, and advanced analyses to surface trends and inform decisions.
  • Support the Supply Chain technology roadmap by partnering with leadership to prioritize analytics solutions.
  • Create ad hoc and recurring queries to answer complex business questions.
  • Support annual planning, budgeting, and M&A/divestiture evaluations with benchmarking insights.
  • Identify improvements; develop executive presentations for senior leadership.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent benchmarking methodologies and enhance datasets and tools.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve data issues with internal and external data owners.
  • Develop and deploy GenAI-powered tools to automate recurring analyses and reporting; pilot improvements.

Job Profile Summary:

The Data Analysis Professional sits within Devon Energy's Supply Chain organization, delivering data-driven insights—primarily peer benchmarking and competitive analysis—that inform strategic and operational decisions. The role also supports development of the Supply Chain technology roadmap, partners closely with subject matter experts and functional leaders to identify value creation opportunities, and proactively develops new methods to retrieve, visualize, automate, and analyze data across operational, geological, and financial sources.

Responsibilities:
  • Develop and maintain peer benchmarking programs across production, capital efficiency, LOE and operating costs, supply chain/procurement performance, and asset-level metrics.
  • Build dashboards, reports, and advanced analyses (statistical modeling, peer valuation, basin and cost comparisons) that surface trends and inform team- and department-level decisions.
  • Support the Supply Chain technology roadmap by partnering with leadership and stakeholders to identify, prioritize, and evaluate analytics and technology solutions.
  • Build and document ad hoc and recurring queries to answer increasingly complex business questions.
  • Support annual planning, budgeting, and M&A/divestiture evaluations with external benchmarking insights.
  • Identify best practices and improvement opportunities; develop executive presentations for senior leadership.
  • Collaborate across departments to ensure consistent benchmarking methodologies and enhance analytical datasets, visualizations, and tools.
  • Investigate, document, and resolve complex data issues, coordinating with internal and external data owners on sustainable solutions.
  • Develop and deploy GenAI-powered tools to automate recurring analyses and reporting; pilot and iterate on process improvements.
Skillset:
  • AI:Independently uses AI to accelerate personal workflows, such as code generation, debugging, and drafting report summaries.
  • Process:Identifies and suggests minor improvements to personal and team-level data workflows.
  • Advanced proficiency in scripting languages, able to write efficient, reusable code and automate routine analyses.
  • Deepens expertise in multiple analytics platforms and tools, and begins integrating data across systems for more comprehensive analysis.
  • Applies advanced visualization techniques to larger and more complex datasets, tailoring visualizations to audience needs.
  • Demonstrates strong troubleshooting skills, independently resolving data and technical issues.
  • Translates complex analyses into actionable recommendations for teams and departments.
  • Communicates technical findings effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Facilitates small group discussions and knowledge sharing sessions.
Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university in Management Information Systems, Data Analytics, Information Science/Management, Economics, Finance, Accounting, Geoscience, Engineering, or related degree.
