Job summary

RA Capital Management seeks an early-career Software Engineer, Data/AI to build AI-enabled healthcare data platforms and workflows. You will design scalable data pipelines, implement AI-powered data access, and collaborate with AI/ML engineers and vendors.

The role emphasizes production readiness, governance, and observability, with a hybrid schedule from our Boston office. A BS in CS or related field and up to three years of experience are required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Science, or a related field; master’s preferred.
• Up to three years of experience in software engineering, data engineering, or a related role.
• Must be based in the Boston area and work a hybrid schedule from our Boston office.

Responsibilities

• Design and maintain scalable, production-grade data pipelines for healthcare datasets (claims, provider data).
• Build and optimize data models to support analytical and AI-driven workloads.
• Develop Python and SQL code for data standardization, reconciliation, validation, and workflows.
• Build AI-powered data workflows connecting LLMs with enterprise data, APIs, and internal tools.
• Develop agentic workflows that retrieve data, call tools, execute multi-step tasks, and automate processes with guardrails.
• Create AI-native data access frameworks (LLM-to-SQL, LLM-to-GraphQL).
• Integrate AI workflows with APIs and tools for reliable enterprise data access.
• Collaborate with AI/ML engineers and vendors to translate needs into production solutions.
• Implement monitoring, observability, governance for data pipelines and AI workflows.
• Document architectures and production systems.
