Job summary

Elms College Dance Team seeks a dedicated coach to develop a safe training environment for team members and to demonstrate strong leadership, welfare concern, and role modeling. The role requires organizational and interpersonal skills and a commitment to Elms College policies.

Responsibilities include planning 1–2 workouts weekly, attending practices and performances, recruiting students, managing budgets with SGA, and coordinating performances at home basketball games.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.
• Coaching or athletics administration experience.
• Ability to relate to students and the campus community.
• Proficient with standard office software.
• Valid driver's license required.

Responsibilities

• Plan and implement 1–2 Dance Team workouts per week and teach skills.
• Attend all practices and performances.
• Plan overall program goals and organize practice and performance management.
• Recruit Dance Team students throughout the academic year.
• Advise the Dance Team with regard to budget management and SGA duties.
• Coordinate with the Elms Athletic department for home game dances and performances.
• Explore away game performance opportunities and annual fundraising concerts.
• Attend weekly/bi-weekly meetings with the Director of Student Engagement.
• Coordinate practice space with the Assistant Athletic Director.
• Coordinate game day performances with the Assistant Athletic Director.
• Other duties as assigned.

Summary of Position

Develop and implement a safe and effective training environment for members of the Elms College Dance Team. Display a sincere concern for student welfare, demonstrating excellent leadership, role modeling, organizational and interpersonal skills. Strong commitment to Elms College policies and regulations.

Duties & Responsibilities

• Plan and implement 1-2 Dance Team workouts/practices per week. Responsible for teaching skills and providing opportunities for specific knowledge.

• Required to be in attendance for all practices and performances.

• Planning overall program goals, organizing practice and performance management.

• Recruitment of Dance Team students throughout the academic year utilizing the most currently used methods, i.e., on-campus advertising, Student Engagement Expo, email, game visibility, etc.

• Serve as advisor to the Dance team, with regard to budget management, and club standing responsibilities as outlined by the Elms College Student Government Association (SGA).

• Coordinate with the Elms Athletic department a series of dances and performances during the Men's and Women's home basketball games.

• Investigate the possibility of away game performances. Coordinate annual Dance Team fundraising concert each April.

• Participate in weekly/bi-weekly meetings with the Director of Student Engagement to discuss issues, needs, successes of the team and position.

• Work with the Assistant Athletic Director to reserve practice space in accordance with departmental procedures.

• Work with the Assistant Athletic Director lo coordinate game day performances, in accordance with departmental procedures.

• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree required.

• Coaching or athletics administration is essential.

• Proven ability to relate to students, academic community, student body, off-campus constituents, professional colleagues and the general public. Proven administrative, organizational and recruiting skills.

• Ability to use various software applications and standard office equipment.

• Valid driver's license required.

• Ability to work with a diverse campus community.
