Job summary

YMCA of Central New York in Town of Manlius is seeking a Dance Instructor to develop engaging dance lessons, lead classes, and promote the Y-Arts program. Under the Arts Studio Director, you will plan lessons, track attendance, and collaborate with fellow instructors to create positive student experiences.

Qualifications

• A college degree related to the position’s related art field.
• Prior experience working directly with students in a dance education related environment.

Responsibilities

• Develop and implement dancing lessons that increase the knowledge of art principles as well as expand the student’s interest in dance.
• Create a safe and trusting creative environment in the Dance Studio.
• Ensure the safety of all students.
• Maintain the cleanliness and organization of the Dance Studio with a team effort of the class.
• Communicate respectfully and clearly to all students and parents.
• Reinforce positive behaviors and creative strides.
• Handle disruptive behaviors.
• Actively participate in promoting the Y-Arts program at the YMCA and in the community.
• Follow all guidelines and procedures.
• Works with other dance instructors and assistants to plan and lead 2 recitals per year.
• Actively pursue learning opportunities related to art education and character development.
• Maintain required paperwork for the Arts Studio Director.
• Sustain open communication between Arts Studio Director and fellow dance instructors.
• Attend mandatory YMCA trainings as/when required.
• All other duties as assigned by Supervisor.
