Job summary

The City of Fort Lauderdale is seeking a part-time Recreation Instructor to organize and lead a variety of indoor and outdoor activities. The role includes assisting in overseeing staff, setting up facilities, and teaching dance, art, sports, fitness, and more to participants of varying ages and skill levels.

Responsibilities include ensuring safety, maintaining order, and delivering engaging programs while coordinating with the recreation program team.

Qualifications

High school diploma or GED is required.
Must be 18 years old or older.
CPR for Professional Rescuer and First Aid certifications required if applicable.
WSI or USA Swimming/Coaches certification preferred for aquatic roles.
Experience in sports instruction or officiating for adult sports roles.
Fingerprint/background screening required.

Responsibilities

Assist in organizing and conducting games, sports, social and other recreational activities.
Oversee staff who handles activities, under supervision.
Set up and breakdown facilities, programs, and events.
Instruct adult programs such as art, dance, sports, fitness, etc.
Provide dance routines and communicate adjustments to participants.
Maintain safe and healthy standards at facilities and programs.
Communicate with building and program managers; support inclusion.
