Qualifications

• Certificate or CE/CEAS as deemed necessary by the state Department of Education.
• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university preferred, unless otherwise specified.

Responsibilities

• Plans a program of study that meets students' needs, interests and abilities.
• Evaluates student progress and prepares progress reports.
• Instructs pupils in citizenship and general elements of the course of study as required by state law and district procedures.
• Provides instruction to meet diverse abilities and adapt curriculum accordingly.
• Maintains standards of pupil behavior for an orderly environment.
• Selects and requisitions books and instructional materials and maintains inventories.
• Develops instructional plans and organizes class time for balanced instruction.
• Participates in professional development and staff growth activities.
• Supervises activities during the working day and coordinates work of aides and paraprofessionals.
• Identifies pupil needs and collaborates with staff to address health, attitude, and learning problems.
• Communicates with parents and pupil personnel staff on student progress.
• Maintains attendance accounting and business records as required.
• Develops student activities and participates in committees.
• Serves as a resource to relate subject area to other departments.
