Qualifications

• Extensive experience as an accompanist for contemporary, African and ballet classes.
• Expertise with a wide range of musical literature for dance classes.
• Read and improvise various musical styles.
• High School diploma or GED and 1 year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

• Provide musical accompaniment for contemporary, African and/or ballet classes for majors in the Dance Department.
• May accompany elective classes as determined by Music Supervisor or Department Chair.
• Arriving promptly, having instruments set up before class starts, and having a positive attitude and respect is essential.
• Respond to movement by discerning meter, as well as accent, articulation, and nuance.
