Job summary

The Ohio State University in Columbus is seeking a Musician to provide live musical accompaniment for contemporary, African and ballet classes in the Dance Department. This hourly position is limited to a maximum of 10 hours per week and based at Sullivant Hall (0106).

Successful candidates will have a strong sense of rhythm, be flexible to adjust music for instructors, and read/improvise across musical styles with extensive accompanist experience in dance settings.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or GED with at least 1 year of relevant experience.
• Extensive experience as an accompanist for contemporary, African and ballet classes.

Responsibilities

• Provide musical accompaniment for contemporary, African and ballet classes for majors in the Dance Department.
• May accompany elective classes as determined by Music Supervisor or Department Chair.
• Arrive promptly, set up instruments before class, and maintain a positive attitude and respect.
• Read and improvise various musical styles to meet instructor needs.
