Job summary

The University of Alabama in Tuscaloosa invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in Dance. The successful candidate will teach across MFA and BA dance programs, mentor students in teaching, choreography, and research, and engage in creative activity and service.

We seek candidates with experience teaching jazz and/or ballet; additional expertise in Hip Hop, House, Street Style, or Latin forms and in dance technology will be an asset.

Qualifications

• MFA or PhD in Dance or related field.
• Record of successful teaching at the college/university level.
• Commitment to inclusive pedagogical approaches and collaboration.
• Good communication and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Teach a combination of dance studies and studio courses, including pedagogy and graduate seminars.
• Mentor graduate and undergraduate students in teaching, choreography, and research.
• Develop and maintain a compelling creative research agenda with impact.
• Contribute to curricular initiatives and development of new courses.
• Advise and mentor students at both graduate and undergraduate levels; engage in service.
