Community College of Baltimore County invites applications for part-time instructor positions in Dance at the Essex and Catonsville campuses. Positions cover Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern, Ballet, and other forms, with the potential to teach Dance Appreciation and history topics as well.

Adjunct Level 1 pays $1,085 per credit hour. Adjunct faculty may teach up to 22 credits annually, typically no more than 11 per semester, with typical expectations for meeting program standards and engaging in

Qualifications

  • Adjunct faculty are selected based on program needs and subject matter expertise of the applicant.
  • Two years teaching experience preferred
  • Experience using classroom technology and learning management systems preferred

Responsibilities

  • Fulfills department and college responsibilities as directed by the program director and/or course coordinator.
  • Abides by College wide policies and procedures regarding classroom conduct.
  • Ensures instruction meets or exceeds standards established by NASD for Dance.
  • Employs a variety of teaching strategies to meet a diverse student population.
  • Adheres to the scheduled time of class/lab.
  • Develops a course syllabus that is in keeping with program and College policies.
  • Ensures that program specific evaluation methods are administered and completed in a consistent and equitable manner.
  • Monitors student performance and provides feedback within a reasonable timeframe

Job description

Part Time instructor positions available in Dance, teaching one or more of the following Dance technique courses: Jazz, Tap, Hip Hop, Modern Dance, Ballet, and other dance forms as needed. The ability to teach Dance Appreciation, and History of Hip Hop Dance is also a consideration. Please indicate technique forms qualified to teach on application. Adjunct faculty are selected based on program needs and subject matter expertise of the applicant. Adjunct faculty are required to attend department meetings, participate in professional development related to classroom instruction and pedagogy, be available to students outside of class and assist in maintaining program accreditation.

Locations: CCBC Essex & Catonsville Campuses and extension centers.

  • Master's degree in Dance; or Master's degree in related field with 18 graduate credits in Dance; or qualifying equivalency/portfolio and successful experience as a practitioner in the field
  • Two (2) years teaching experience
  • Experience working with non-traditional and diverse student populationspreferred
  • Experience using classroom technology and learning management systems preferred
  • Proficient computer skills and Microsoft applications knowledge
  • Prior college teaching experience preferred

  4. Employs a variety of teaching strategies to meet a diverse student population

  7. Ensures that program specific evaluation methods are administered and completed in a consistent and equitable manner
  8. Assure that evaluation methods are appropriate and effectively assessing the established course objectives
  9. Monitors student performance on a regular basis and provides feedback within a reasonable timeframe to students
