Job summary

The Child Center of NY is seeking a Dance Activity Specialist to design and facilitate project-based learning experiences within a dance context. The role focuses on engaging youth through creative movement and collaborative projects.

You will work with site leadership to plan activities, build relationships with participants, families and school staff, and coordinate showcases or performances. Monday to Friday, after-school hours, with opportunities to support additional events.

Qualifications

• 2 years’ experience working with children/youth in your specialization.
• Supervisory experience with elementary to high school aged youth.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with site leadership to plan and execute quality, project-based youth development activities.
• Develop and maintain positive relationships with participants, families and school faculty.
• Coordinate events and performances in the specialty area (showcases, exhibits, productions).
• Engage participants in specialty area activities; provide support through encouragement and resources.
• Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies; submit documents on time.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Summary

The Dance Activity Specialist is responsible for designing and facilitating project-based learning experiences within a dance.

Essential Functions

• Collaborate with site leadership in the planning, development and execution of quality, project-based youth development activities.
• Develop and maintain positive and professional relationships with participants, families & school faculty
• Coordinate events & functions in specialty area such as: showcases, exhibits, productions, culminating events, etc.
• Engage participants in specialty area activities. Provide support through encouragement and delivering resources.
• Prepare related paperwork, materials and implementation supplies. Timely submit all program and certification related documents.
• Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

• College Student or High School Graduate 18 yrs. or older.
• 2 years’ experience working with children and/or youth in your specialization.
• Exemplary supervisory skills at elementary level (middle school or high school aged youth) and aptitude for motivating people.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office.
• Ability to plan and carry out assignments independently.
• Ability to prioritize, adhere to timelines and multi-task.

Days/Hours

Monday- Friday- 2:00pm-6:00PM

Qualifications Preferred

• Bilingual in one or more of the following: Spanish, Mandarin, Cantonese, Bengali and others based on client needs.
