Job summary

Metronet is hiring a Damage Prevention Specialist for the Northern Illinois/Chicago area. You will lead damage prevention efforts, manage training and audits, and coordinate safety programs with contractors and internal teams.

The role requires building strong relationships with excavators, conducting root-cause investigations, and ensuring compliance with OSHA rules and company policies while traveling 50-75% as needed.

Qualifications

• BS/BA degree in related field and three (3+) years of related experience.
• Working knowledge of Federal, state, and local safety, and OSHA standards.
• Certification in Rescue/CPR, OSHA, confined space, MOT, and defensive driving standards preferred.
• Willingness to obtain train-the-trainer certifications, OSHA and other training certificates, and licenses as necessary.
• Experience conducting training in group and individual settings, as conducting frequent training is required.
• Valid driver's license/satisfactory driving record.

Responsibilities

• Promote a culture of safe work practices through leadership.
• Facilitate post-damage investigations and reporting to identify root causes and drive corrective actions.
• Drive damage prevention strategies and educate contractors to improve skills.
• Develop and coordinate training programs (OSHA, excavation safety, safety training) with leadership.
• Conduct safety audits and provide worksite training as needed.
