ARKUPS in Arkansas is seeking a Damage Prevention Specialist to work independently in the field, identifying and marking subsurface utilities to prevent damage during excavation. You will interact with contractors and the public to promote safety and Arkansas 811 compliance.

The role emphasizes strong communication, map-reading, and color-coding skills, enabling precise locating with electronic detection equipment in a dynamic field environment.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record and background.

Responsibilities

• Identify and mark the location of partner subsurface utilities to minimize damage during construction.
• Interact with contractors, co-workers and the public to maintain relationships and promote safety.
• Read and interpret maps, utility records and electronic prints to locate buried utilities.
• Distinguish colors accurately to apply correct color codes for utilities.

As a Damage Prevention Specialist, you will work independently, and will be responsible for identifying and marking the location of all partner subsurface utilities to minimize damage or disruption of service due to construction excavation activities.

This includes interacting with contractors, co-workers and the general public in person, by telephone and/or email to establish and maintain effective working relationships while promoting the Arkansas 811 law to prevent damage.

Job Qualifications:

• Must be at least 18 years of age or older.
• Authorized to work in the United States.
• Must have a valid driver’s license and acceptable driving record and background.

Skills:

• Strong communication skills and ability to work independently and manage time effectively.
• Ability to read and interpret maps, utility records and electronic prints.
• Ability to distinguish colors accurately to mark utilities according to industry-standard color codes.
