Job summary

HDR, Inc. is seeking a Dam Safety Engineer/Subject Matter Expert to support inspections, analyses and design work for dam and hydropower projects in the United States. Hybrid or flexible work locations are available.

The role requires 7+ years in relevant disciplines, a PE license, and strong communication skills. Primary location is in the Bellevue, WA area, with opportunities at multiple U.S. locations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Civil, Structural, Mechanical, Geological, or Geotechnical engineering or related field.
• Minimum 7 years in geotechnical/geology/civil-structural or hydrology & hydraulics or mechanical engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license required.
• Experience with dams, water conveyances or hydropower infrastructure a must.
• Strong communication and leadership skills.

Responsibilities

• Support inspections and engineering assessments of existing dams and water retaining structures.
• Conduct analyses, evaluate designs, and prepare design options with supporting calculations.
• Prepare contract documents with drawings, specs, criteria and cost estimates.
• Mentor junior staff and perform QA/QC on deliverables.
• Travel for inspections, meetings and project work as needed.
