Job summary

Schnabel Engineering is seeking a Mid-Level/Project Dam Safety Engineer in Austin, TX, with 5+ years of dam experience and a Texas PE in Texas preferred.

The role blends technical dam engineering work—hydrology, hydraulics, geotechnical, and structural design—with project management responsibilities on embankment and concrete dams for public and private clients. Travel is periodic, and office collaboration is key.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering (ABET-accredited). Master’s degree preferred.
• Licensed Professional Engineer in Texas preferred or eligible for reciprocity.
• 5+ years of experience in inspection, evaluation, design and construction of dams/hydraulic structures.
• Proficiency with CAD/visualization tools and dam safety methodologies.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering analysis and design calculations for dam projects (safety inspections, risk assessments, seepage, stability, hydrologic/hydraulic modeling).
• Prepare reports, specifications, and construction drawings.
• Conduct visual inspections of dams and hydraulic structures.
• Assist with training, mentoring, and cost proposals.
• Manage projects including planning, budgeting, scheduling, and invoicing.
