This position is funded for a period not exceeding two years

Job Summary:

The Department oversees approximately 250 dams in Arizona. The engineer will support dam safety projects, providing regulatory oversight as part of a team of registered and non-registered professionals.

Job Duties:

The engineer will analyze dam safety aspects, represent the agency in meetings, and may serve as an expert witness or provide technical assistance at hearings.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities (KSAs):

Experience in:

• Geotechnical engineering and soil mechanics
• Civil engineering and design
• Hydrology & Hydraulics
• Structural engineering and design
• Construction oversight
• GIS Platforms

Skills in:

• Software such as Geostudio, SoilVision, Flo2D, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, HEC-RAS 2D
• MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint
• Technical writing and communication

Abilities to:

• Work independently and collaboratively
• Organize workload and priorities
• Manage multiple projects
• Analyze engineering data
• Build effective relationships

Preferred Qualifications:

• B.S. in Civil Engineering
• M.S. or Ph.D. in related fields
• 5+ years of engineering experience
• Dam Safety Inspections

Pre-Employment Requirements:

PE license in Arizona or eligibility for reciprocity within six months.

Valid driver’s license and ability to maintain it.
