Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering required; Civil preferred.
  • 4+ years of relevant experience, ideally in dam safety.
  • PA PE license or ability to obtain within 12 months.
  • Knowledge of planning, design, and operation of water retention facilities.
  • Strong understanding of federal and state regulatory requirements.
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills.
  • Project management capabilities and problem-solving skills.
  • Valid PA driver’s license and ability to operate a company vehicle.
  • Experience in hydraulic modeling and water/wastewater industry standards.

Responsibilities

  • Safeguard water retention structures and ensure regulatory compliance.
  • Contribute to infrastructure integrity and public safety through engineering best practices.
  • Conduct field visits and coordinate with officials, contractors, and regulatory bodies.
  • Prepare technical reports and present findings to stakeholders.

Required Skills
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, with a preference for Civil Engineering
  • 4+ years of relevant experience, ideally in dam safety
  • PA Professional Engineer (P.E.) license or ability to obtain within 12 months
  • Knowledge of engineering related to planning, design, and operation of water retention facilities
  • Strong understanding of regulatory requirements, including federal and state regulations
  • Excellent report writing, presentation, and verbal communication skills
  • Project management capabilities and problem-solving skills

  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling, water quality, and water/wastewater industry experience

  • Experience in emergency preparedness and response planning, including Emergency Action Plans (EAPs)
  • Familiarity with contract administration and construction technology for dam projects
  • Experience representing organizations before regulatory agencies
  • Strong interpersonal skills for stakeholder engagement and networking with regulatory authorities
Preferred Education and Experience
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field
  • 4+ years of experience in dam safety or water resource management
  • Licensure as a Professional Engineer in Pennsylvania or the ability to obtain it within a year
Other Requirements
  • Willingness to travel across Pennsylvania with up to 25% overnight stays
  • Fieldwork involving site visits, coordination with officials, contractors, and regulatory bodies
  • Occasional lifting of up to 20 pounds
  • Ability to work both in-office and in the field, with a focus on safety and compliance
