The role includes conducting inspections, overseeing surveillance, and coordinating with internal staff and third parties to ensure dam safety and reliability. The position reports to the Senior Dam Safety Engineer and requires knowledge of hydrology, hydraulics, and geotechnical considerations, with strong analytical and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in civil engineering.
• Professional Engineer (PE) license or ability to obtain within 1 year.
• 5+ years of engineering experience with design, inspection or construction of civil projects.

Responsibilities

• Conduct inspections and oversee surveillance and monitoring to maintain dam safety.
• Review and approve modifications to dams or appurtenant facilities affecting safety.
• Direct changes to project operations to ensure safety during emergencies.
• Interface with federal/state dam safety authorities and participate in regulatory inspections.
