Job summary

The Yay Company is seeking a Kitchen Manager to lead our Dallas market hub and oversee two additional school locations. This hands-on role requires direct cooking, staff leadership, and end-to-end kitchen operations from prep through service.

You will manage production scheduling, quality control, inventory, waste, and labor within budget, while maintaining Yay standards and fostering staff development. Based in Dallas with regular site visits across all Dallas locations.

Qualifications

• 2–4 years of experience in kitchen or food production operations.
• Hands-on cook and leader with ability to run a shift and set standards.
• Experience with batch production, food safety, and inventory management.
• Strong people skills and ability to coach and hold a team accountable.
• Organized and dependable with multiple moving pieces daily.
• Willingness to travel between Dallas locations and maintain reliable transportation.
• ServSafe certification or willingness to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Based in Dallas or within commuting distance.

Responsibilities

• Runs hub kitchen from prep through service, managing schedule and quality.
• Oversees labor scheduling and real-time decisions to stay within budget.
• Ensures food produced to Yay standards and delivered to spoke schools on time.
• Acts as primary contact for school partners at hub location and coordinates with other sites.
• Regularly checks in with additional Dallas locations to ensure service is on track.
• Leads onboarding and development for Lead Cooks and kitchen staff in the Dallas market.
