Dairy Worker 1 Department: FAES | Animal Sciences Wooster Dairy Center
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform milking duties following established procedures.
  • Maintain bedding and feeding of dairy cattle.
  • Clean and sanitize dairy barn and surrounding work areas.
  • Instruct residents and/or students on milking practices and proper operation of milking equipment.
  • Maintain, clean, and store milking equipment to ensure proper function and sanitation.
  • Inspect dairy cattle and provide basic treatment for sickness or injury, reporting concerns as needed.
  • Build, repair, and maintain farm fences.
  • Perform miscellaneous farm-related tasks as assigned.
  • Operate farm vehicles and equipment to haul feed, calves, and other materials safely.
Unusual Working Conditions
  • Works rotating shifts, including early mornings, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  • Works outdoors and may be exposed to varying weather conditions.
  • Exposure to unpleasant odors, dairy cattle, and dangerous machinery.
Minimum Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED required.

Additional Information

The salary range for this position is $15.60-$19.50/hr. The offer for this position will fall within the positions pay range based on internal equity, unit’s available budget, and the candidate’s qualifications. This position is part of the Communications Workers of America and is considered a union position. Regular full-time position, with full-time benefits. Location: Krauss Dairy Research Facility (0426) Position Type: Regular Scheduled Hours: 40 Shift: First Shift Final candidates are subject to successful completion of a background check. A drug screen or physical may be required during the post offer process.
