Job description

Dairy Technical Sales Specialist

In this role, you are responsible for leading the dairy technical and/or nutritional support throughout an assigned area within Wisconsin Dairy Area Market. In addition, you will be responsible for assisting with or directly influencing the growth of sales with current and prospective dairy clients through a consultative approach and education. Provide technical leadership to the producers, Purina sales teams and co-ops/dealers in the territory.

This role is a virtual/remote role but must be located within the Wisconsin Dairy Market.

Primary Responsibilities:

  1. Work closely with Sales Professionals in providing education and solutions for producers.
  2. Work both individually and through Sales Professionals, helping dealers/ co-op customers and prospects to mutually benefit by providing the right recommendations for nutrition and species management practices.
  3. Work directly with a key set of dairy producers, providing nutritional services as part of your own portfolio of business.
  4. Be the lead in nutrition and education for the sales team and our dealer group.
  5. Partner in organizing and conducting producer events that promote best practice for nutrition and management, including proof field trials to demonstrate the profitability of solutions utilizing Purina products.
  6. Serve as a key liaison with the industry.
  7. Communicate with the Purina technical team and research staff to lead innovative research and product development; both in the field and at the Purina Research Center in St. Louis, MO.
  8. Maintain a high level of proficiency and competency in nutrition, production management, and selling skills through recommended training and verified by documented sales results.
  9. Perform other duties and assume other responsibilities as assigned or requested.

Experience-Education (Required):

  1. PhD/DVM degree in dairy nutrition with 2-5 years’ minimum experience or master’s degree in dairy nutrition with 6+ years field experience.
  2. Proven track record of successfully recommending solutions to dairy owners to support business growth.

Competencies:

  1. Demonstrated ability to quickly form strong working relationships
  2. Enjoys and prefers working in the field with producers, sales specialists, and feed dealers.
  3. Willingness to support own dairy clientele to drive industry relevance and experience
  4. Daily travel in an assigned geography, with overnights as needed to effectively perform in the role.
  5. Enjoys working with people, competing as a team, and helping all win (Purina, producers, dealers)
  6. Self-motivated with excellent time management skills who plans for growth and opportunity.
  7. Computer skills; including ration balancing and Office applications (Power Point, Excel, Word, etc.)
  8. Strong leadership skills, customer focus, goal and action oriented
  9. Strong presentation and communication skills with ability to present in a group setting to various audiences

This is a technical sales position with a blend of salary plus incentive. Incentive is based on individual performance.

Base Salary Range is approximately $120,880-$181,320. In most cases, candidates offered employment can expect to be hired at a pay rate near the middle of our salary ranges.
