Job summary

University System of New Hampshire seeks a senior farm manager for the UNH Fairchild Dairy Teaching and Research Center in Durham, NH. You will lead operations, supervise staff, and coordinate dairy production, animal care, and research activities while ensuring safety and regulatory compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in animal science, dairy science, or a closely related field or an associate's degree with combined experience equal to 7 years of related experience.
• 5+ years experience working on a dairy farm with progression in responsibility and leadership.
• 4+ years of supervisory and leadership experience

Responsibilities

• Provide overall leadership of the facility and diverse groups of stakeholders to meet the research, teaching, and engagement missions of UNH.
• Oversee animal care standards, healthcare, and data logging per industry best practices and regulatory requirements.
• Participate in daily facility operations including cleaning, feeding, milking, and milk sales; coordinate manure and feed storage with UNH Farm Services.
• Coordinate research and teaching activities with researchers and instructors; engage with outreach events and external partners.
• Ensure safety, maintenance, and timely repairs of farm infrastructure and equipment; manage budgets and investments for long-term sustainability.
