Job summary

Saputo Cheese USA Inc. is seeking an enthusiastic Research & Development Intern to design and evaluate processes and materials across dairy plants. You will sample milk, whey, and cheese, perform microbiological, analytical, and organoleptic tests, and ensure compliance with customer and Saputo specifications.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Food Science, Microbiology, Dairy Technology, or related field.
• Proficient in data collection, analysis, and reporting using Word, Excel, and graphing tools.
• Ability to travel up to 50% and work flexible hours.
• Strong writing skills and professional communication with press/community contacts.
• Self-motivated, organized, detail-oriented, and able to manage multiple projects.

Responsibilities

• Perform microbiological, analytical, and sensory analysis of milk, whey, and cheese products to meet Saputo specs.
• Ensure GMP compliance and maintain lab practices.
• Prepare samples and conduct moisture, pH, salt, fat, solids, chlorides, COD, rennet, starter activity tests; interpret results.
• Set up, operate, calibrate, and maintain lab equipment daily.
• Analyze results and report findings in a timely manner; provide technical support to designated plants.
• Assist in product development activities at plants and coordinate research efforts.
