Job summary

Gossner Foods, Inc. seeks a Controls Specialist to support and maintain automation across dairy lines, including UHT, cheese production, and packaging. You will work with Allen-Bradley PLCs, HMI platforms, and various PLC brands while focusing on quality, food safety, and uptime.

You will troubleshoot PLC logic, upgrade legacy controls, and support CIP sanitation controls in a fast-paced dairy environment. This role involves cross-functional collaboration and some travel to maintain critical

Qualifications

Proven experience programming and troubleshooting Allen-Bradley PLCs and HMIs.
Ability to read and interpret PLC logic across multiple brands/platforms.
Experience upgrading legacy control systems in dairy/food environments.
Strong understanding of electrical schematics and ladder logic.
Troubleshoot temperature-critical and sanitation-critical controls (pasteurization/CIP).
Experience in a dairy processing setting with washdown and cold/hot zones.
Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Program, troubleshoot, and maintain PLC and HMI systems (Allen-Bradley).
Read and interpret PLC logic across Siemens/Omron/GE platforms.
Maintain controls on UHT, cheese, and packaging lines; CIP and sanitation controls.
Support control system upgrades and retrofits; obsolescence management.
Diagnose electrical and controls issues to minimize downtime.
Collaborate with QA, Maintenance, and Production to meet HACCP and SQF requirements.
Assist with robotics integration for palletizing and case packing.
Support Ignition SCADA and data history for traceability.
