Job summary

Lactalis USA seeks a Lab Manager based in Brattleboro, VT, to lead all plant laboratory operations, ensure GMP and regulatory compliance, and drive quality control initiatives. You will direct staff, manage testing across products, raw materials, and packaging, and provide strategic leadership to support production goals.

Qualified applicants bring 5+ years in lab settings (4-year preferred) and 3+ years in leadership within manufacturing.

Qualifications

• Associates degree required; bachelor's preferred.
• Majors in Business, Food Science, Engineering or related fields preferred.
• 3+ years of leadership/mentoring in a manufacturing facility required.
• 5+ years of lab experience required; dairy industry preferred.
• Strong knowledge of laboratory testing principles, GMPs, and quality control regulations.

Responsibilities

• Provide direction, leadership, and staff development for direct reports.
• Oversee plant laboratory operations, equipment, testing, and SOP compliance.
• Manage lab KPI files, audits, and reporting (daily, monthly, quarterly, annual).
• Handle equipment qualification, calibration, maintenance, repairs, and purchasing of lab supplies.
• Develop and maintain SOPs, training programs, and lab documentation.
• Lead investigations of abnormal results and collaborate with central lab for troubleshooting.
• Manage lab budget, capital expenditures, and vendor relationships.
• Ensure shelf-life programs and support food safety audits.
