STgenetics Ohio Heifer Center offers a structured internship in dairy herd management, giving hands-on exposure to calf care, reproductive technologies, and daily herd operations with a large dairy herd.

Interns rotate through four departments, learning from seasoned professionals and participating in educational experiences beyond rotations. Weekend shifts and safety are emphasized throughout the program.

Responsibilities

• Follow calf care protocols and biosecurity daily.
• Assist with labor and newborn calf care.
• Learn embryo transfer procedures and reproductive protocols.
• Understand herd health management and disease basics.
• Collect EcoFeed data and support herd activities.
• Gain experience with Lely robotic milking and automated feeding systems.
• Participate in farm tours and educational trips.
• Maintain records and adhere to safety standards.
• Work 40–60 hours weekly with rotating weekends.
