Position Summary

Trinity Prep is always looking for qualified substitute teachers with a background in secondary education or higher education. An ideal candidate must have a desire to work with students in a challenging college-preparatory environment and have a wide-range of knowledge and skills. Qualified candidates must have the ability to develop connections with highly motivated students from diverse backgrounds. This position will remain open until filled.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Supervise a group of assigned advisory students for the purpose of advising them on academic, social, and future‑planning issues.
  • Follow lesson plans provided by the faculty member to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
  • Execute lesson materials, manage the classroom, and evaluate and give feedback to students and the designated faculty member.
  • Adapt teaching methods and instructional materials to meet students' varying needs and interests.
  • Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation, minimize distractions and maintain a positive learning environment.
  • Communicate daily objectives to students.
  • Administer tests and/or quizzes left by the faculty member, being respectful of their instructions to maintain academic integrity.
  • Collaborate with the faculty and administrators as needed.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervising administrator.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Minimum of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or the international equivalent in a related field.
  • Previous teaching experience is preferred.
  • Promotes an inclusive environment that values, encourages, and supports differences, and articulates an authentic commitment to diversity in thought and perspective while holding others accountable for the same.
  • Possess a passion for learning.
  • Ability to track attendance and participate in the advisory program while meeting professional standards.
  • Ability to execute lesson plans and successfully instruct students.

  • Proficient active listening skills to understand and adapt to students’ various learning needs.
  • Knowledge of appropriate learning psychology, styles, and strategies.
  • Strong public speaking and oral presentation skills.
  • Excellent organization and time‑management skills.
  • Leadership skills and patience for working with students of all ages.
  • Must pass a Jessica Lunsford Level II background check and drug test.
