Lexington Public Schools (MA) seeks a Daily Substitute Teacher to cover classrooms when the lead teacher is absent, starting Aug 31, 2026.

The position pays $150/day for classroom teacher coverage and $125/day for classroom support staff coverage, with responsibilities including following lesson plans, maintaining order, and supporting student learning.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree preferred; In lieu of degree, relevant work/life experience required.
Experience working with students.
Experience in racially and culturally diverse teaching and learning communities.

Responsibilities

Follow the lesson plan left by the teacher for whom substituting in accordance with district's philosophy, goals and objectives.
Meet and instruct assigned classes/duties in the locations and at the times designated.
Establish and maintaining order in the classroom.
Maintain a classroom environment conducive to effective learning.
Take all necessary and reasonable precautions to protect students, materials, equipment and facilities.
Assist in upholding and enforcing school rules, administrative regulations, and School Committee Policies.
Establish and maintaining cooperative relations with other employees.
Other responsibilities as assigned.
