Job summary

ACCEL Schools is seeking Daily Substitute Teachers to support Barber Preparatory Academy and Inkster Preparatory Academy in Michigan. You will assist with classroom instruction and help maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment.

Qualified candidates possess a Michigan Substitute Teaching License or eligibility, and a minimum of 60 college credits. Excellent communication skills and integrity are essential, with experience in urban settings a plus.

Qualifications

• Must have or be eligible for Michigan Substitute Teaching License
• Minimum of 60 completed college credit hours; education field preferred
• Excellent written and verbal communication; ability to manage confidential information

Responsibilities

• Support classroom instruction and maintain a safe, welcoming environment
• Supervise students across classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, and playground
• Follow lesson plans and school procedures
• Use curricula reflecting diverse backgrounds of students
• Build positive relationships with students and staff
• Collaborate with colleagues and communicate effectively
• Perform other duties as assigned

About the Opportunity:

Responsibilities include:

• Support classroom instruction and help maintain a safe, welcoming learning environment
• Supervise students throughout the school day (classroom, hallways, playground, cafeteria)
• Follow provided lesson plans and school procedures
• Utilize school-approved curricula that reflect the diverse educational, cultural, and linguistic backgrounds of the students
• Build positive relationships with students and school staff
• Collaborate and communicate effectively with colleagues
• Perform other duties as assigned

About You

• Eligible for or currently hold a State of Michigan Substitute Teaching License
• Minimum of 60 completed college credit hours (education or related field preferred)
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to manage confidential information appropriately
• Ability to pass federal and state criminal background checks
• Experience working with students or in an urban environment is a plus—but not required
