Job summary

Wayne State University in Dayton, OH seeks an experienced Head Track and Field Coach to lead a Division I program, working with assistants and the Head Cross Country Coach. You will recruit athletes, develop strategies for peak performance, and ensure compliance with NCAA, conference and university policies while managing budget and operations.

The role requires travel and availability for evenings, weekends, and some holidays, with a full-time, 12-month commitment and full benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree required.
• Experience as a successful track and field or cross country coach.
• Proven recruiting, developing and retaining quality student-athletes.
• Expertise in one or more event areas.
• Excellent written communication skills.
• Valid driver's license with a low-risk driving record.
• Commitment to NCAA, conference and university policies.
• Focus on safety and student-athlete welfare.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for all aspects of a Division I track and field program.
• Recruit quality student athletes and address team composition and peak performance.
• Instruct and coach student-athletes in sports skills and safety practices.
• Assist with compliance education, budget management, equipment procurement and fundraising.
• Travel as required, with evening, weekend and some holiday hours.
