Job summary

Kaiser Permanente in California is seeking a Cytotechnologist to perform staining, mounting, and microscopic examination of cells for cancer and pre-cancerous lesions, under supervision of the Pathology Department Manager.

The candidate will prepare slides, stain specimens, and report findings to Pathologists, ensuring accuracy, safety, and compliance with department policies. BS degree required plus Cytotechnologist license (CA) and minimum experience.

Qualifications

• BS degree in science or other field is required.
• Cytotechnologist license (California) is required.
• Minimum 18 months experience as a Cytotechnologist I is expected.

Responsibilities

• Prepares microscopic slides from specimens including Fine Needle Aspirations.
• Stains slides to preserve specimens and enhance visibility of cells under microscope.
• Examines slides under microscope to identify abnormalities in cell structure.
• Reports Pap smear results and preliminary findings to Pathologist as required.
• Follows department procedures and maintains confidentiality and security of patient information.
