Job summary

UNC Health in Raleigh, NC seeks a Cytology Technician to screen clinical slides for cancer and other abnormal changes. You will mark abnormalities, document diagnoses, and file cases for pathologist review.

Requirements include a Bachelor's degree in cytology and completion of an ASCP/CAAHEP-accredited program, with CT(ASC) certification within one year of hire. This is a full-time onsite role with 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree and completion of ASCP/CAAHEP-accredited cytology program within 1 year.
• CT(ASC) certification within 1 year of hire.
• No prior experience required.

Responsibilities

• Complies listing of patients for follow-up analysis of specimens.
• Prepares and analyzes subsequent specimens for cell changes and reports findings to pathologist.
• Filters and spins fluids, prepares slides and stains specimens; classifies slides for review by pathologist.
• Provides guidance to cytology students and helps train new employees.
• Receives specimens, observing asepsis to prevent infection and contamination.
• Reviews patient history and maintains slide and report files.
