VCU Health is seeking a Cytotechnologist to examine gynecologic and non-gynecologic cytology specimens and provide final interpretations under CLIA guidance. The role supports on-site adequacy assessment during FNA procedures and works under a Pathologist.

The position requires a Bachelor in Health Science Cytotechnology, ASCP Cytotechnologist certification (new grads must obtain within 6 months), and color vision proficiency. A sign-on bonus of $7,500 applies for offers accepted by 10/31/2026.

Qualifications

• Bachelor degree in Health Science cytotechnology track is required.
• ASCP Cytotechnologist certification; new graduates must obtain within 6 months.
• Must pass color vision screen and annual CAP proficiency testing.

Responsabilités

• Screen and evaluate gynecologic and non-gynecologic specimens for abnormalities.
• Prepare and stain slides for microscopic evaluation.
• Consult with pathologists to review complex cases.
• Maintain laboratory equipment to ensure accurate results.
• Provide on-site cytologic evaluation (ROSE) during FNA procedures.
• Participate in required proficiency testing and staff education.
