• Ensures patient/staff safety and adheres to Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budget and time constraints.
• Acts as a preceptor and mentor to less experienced staff and supports department goals.
• Delivers compassionate, personalized care and maintains efficient service for patients and colleagues.
• Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

Education: (None)

Licenses/Certifications: CT (ASCP) Registry or eligible for registry and pass within one (1) year of employment.

Principal Accountabilities

• Performs and evaluates accurately and efficiently cytologic test results, quality control, maintenance procedures on all instruments including microscopes and associated corrective actions according to policy/procedure.
• Manages/performs other aspects of daily lab operations including assisting in fine needle aspiration procedures, cytology specimen processing, result reporting/distribution and clerical duties as required to maintain efficient work flow, at a competent level and communicating special circumstances to appropriate personnel.
• Ensures safe care to patients, staff and visitors; adheres to all Memorial Hermann policies, procedures, and standards within budgetary specifications including time management, supply management, productivity and quality of service.
• Promotes individual professional growth and development by meeting requirements for mandatory/continuing education, skills competency, supports department-based goals which contribute to the success of the organization; serves as preceptor, mentor, and resource to less experienced staff.
