Job summary

Independence Health System in Latrobe, PA is seeking a Laboratory Technologist specializing in cytology processing. The role requires handling high-complexity tests, specimen preparation, phlebotomy, and ensuring accurate LIS/EMR data entry.

The incumbent will work independently across laboratory sections and participate in quality management to support patient care. Qualifications include an ASCP-preferred credential, CLIA high-complexity training, and strong communication skills.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or higher in clinical laboratory science or medical technology, or equivalent CLIA 88 high-complexity training.
• CLIA high-complexity testing requirements knowledge.
• Proven ability to communicate complex results to clinicians.

Responsibilities

• Procure, prepare and process specimens using approved techniques.
• Perform phlebotomy consistent with procedures and customer service.
• Validate orders, ensure documentation and correlate results with patient data.
• Maintain instrument settings, QC, maintenance and reagent stock.
• Participate in LIS/LIS interface validation and data entry.
• Interact with healthcare providers to interpret results and provide guidance.
