Qualifications

Responsibilities

Job Summary

Cytologist II is a senior-level cytology professional who performs all duties expected of a Cytologist I and maintains a larger role in QA/QC, fine needle aspiration ROSE procedures, and laboratory operations. This role includes operational and educational duties, advanced diagnostic responsibilities, and regulatory compliance tasks. Collaborate with leadership in preparing for regulatory inspections and implementing process improvements. Cytologist II collaborates closely with coworkers, pathologists, and multidisciplinary teams, ensures quality standards, and plays a pivotal role in specimen evaluation, including the provision of adequacy during rapid on-site adequacy evaluations (ROSE). This position also serves as a mentor and educator for cytology students, trainee physicians, and junior staff.

Minimum Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science: Graduated from a school of cytotechnology accredited by CAAHEP
• CT(ASCP) or SCT(ASCP). Certification in cytology by the American Society for Clinical Pathology (ASCP) or another organization approved by HH
• Three (3) Years of Work Experience in Cytology
• Above Average Verbal and Written Communication Skills: Exhibits strong interpersonal skills with all levels of the healthcare team. Shows delivery of excellent customer service to all patients, visitors, physicians, and coworkers.
• Writing/Reports: Proficiency in reading and writing is necessary to issue patient reports and/or primary interpretations
