Job Summary

Technical Supervisor, Laboratory Services provides leadership oversight to pre-analytical, specimen collection, specimen processing and/or laboratory support areas. As a leader in these areas, the supervisor must be an expert in specimen identification, specimen integrity, specimen accessioning and the best laboratory practice. Supervises the daily operations of a Laboratory Division or major function of a Clinical Laboratory. Possesses the technical and leadership skills to supervise personnel; coordinate operations, organize and improve workflow for the division; and communicate with staff, management, and senior leadership.

This Supervisory position works alongside a team of experienced Cytotechnologists that provide exceptional service here at UTMB Galveston campus, Clear Lake and League City campuses. With a diverse population and covering a large geographic region, our patient mix brings a lot of interest and diversity. You won’t be stuck at a microscope reading clinic-based PAP smears all day. You will lead your team, attend a wide range of procedures at the main hospital as well as satellite facilities, and prescreen both non-gyn and FNA cases from spinal taps through EBUS procedures. As a teaching facility, residents and fellows add to the interest and you’ll interact with professional staff on the daily. We’re committed to professional development and involve our techs in myriad projects from QA and statistical analysis to educational projects for presentation. In addition to the technical variety, it’s a lovely place to work with caring people and great benefits. (All just a few blocks from the beach!)
