Job Details

As a technologist, you will work under general supervision and be responsible for performing highly complex laboratory testing procedures. Responsibilities include:

  1. Determining the acceptability of specimens for testing, preparing clinical specimens, and identifying specimen-related problems.
  2. Analyzing specimens and reviewing/releasing test results.
  3. Preparing stock solutions, reagents, and cocktails used in the laboratory.
  4. Documenting all observations and corrective actions taken when test systems deviate from the laboratory’s established performance specifications.
  5. Maintaining laboratory cleanliness and scheduling equipment maintenance/calibration/certification as required.
  6. Participating in continuing education.
Education

Bachelor’s Degree in Cytogenetics from an accredited college or university preferred OR Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university in one of the chemical, physical, or biological sciences with at least one year of laboratory experience required.

Qualification Requirements
  • ASCP license in Cytology and current Florida Histotechnician or Histotechnologist license required (will consider those eligible for licensure in FL).
  • Nationally ASCP CG Required.
  • FL State Laboratory Personnel License or Eligibility required.
