Education: High School Diploma / GED
Duties for the Robotics Sponsor/Coach include:
Lead and supervise regular FLL team practices and activities. Guide students through designing, building, testing, and improving a LEGO-based robot. Help students develop strategies for completing Robot Game missions. Encourage students to take ownership of their work, make decisions, solve problems, and learn from successes and failures. Prepare students for judging sessions, Robot Game matches, scrimmages, qualifiers, and other FLL events. Coordinate team roles and responsibilities while ensuring all students have meaningful opportunities to participate. Communicate practice schedules, expectations, competition information, and other updates with students and families. Attend competitions and supervise students throughout FLL events. The FLL Robotics Coach serves primarily as a mentor and facilitator rather than someone who completes the work for students. The goal is to help students become independent problem-solvers who can collaborate, think critically, learn from challenges, and take ownership of their team's success. Competition is important, but the larger goal is to develop students' confidence, STEM skills, teamwork, leadership, and excitement for learning. Then, there is guidance and support from the District Robotics facilitator that is available to provide guidance, resources, and will show up during sessions. Which can be 1-1.5 hours two times a week.
