Serco Inc. in Hampton, VA is seeking a Cyber Systems Administrator for the CAF DMO 3.0 program. This role supports the Distributed Mission Operations Network and provides Tier 1/2 IT operations in a DoD environment.

You will monitor infrastructure, assist with incident response, contribute to IPTs, and support security teams while maintaining a DoD Secret clearance and pursuing IAT Level II certs. The position requires STEM degree or IT degree with experience, familiarity with MECM, WSUS,

Qualifications

  • Active DoD Secret clearance with Top Secret eligibility.
  • STEM degree with 2+ years of relevant IT experience, or an IT Associate with 4+ years.
  • DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification within six months of hire.
  • Familiarity with MECM for deployment and patching.
  • Experience with Windows updates and WSUS.
  • Knowledge of virtualization (VMware vSphere/ESXi) preferred.
  • Experience with Windows Desktop OS (10/11) and basic AD/DNS.
  • Scripting knowledge (PowerShell or Bash).
  • Exposure to IT monitoring tools and log analysis.
  • Ability to learn quickly and travel up to 10%.

Responsibilities

Position Description & Qualifications

Serco seeks a Cyber Systems Administrator for its Combat Air Force Distributed Mission Operations (CAF DMO) 3.0 program in Hampton, VA. The CAF DMO 3.0 program, via its Distributed Mission Operations Network (DMON), provides world-class integration training to combat units around the globe against cutting-edge threats in a boundless virtual battlespace. The U.S. Air Force can only utilize its full capability against modern threats in a virtual environment. In this role, you will:

  • Assist with monitoring and performing routine health checks of critical network infrastructure and systems.

  • Provide Tier 1/Tier 2 support for daily operations, including basic infrastructure maintenance, system patching, and help desk ticket resolution.

  • Support incident response activities by performing initial troubleshooting, communication, and basic reporting under the guidance of senior administrators.

  • Participate in Integrated Product Teams (IPTs) to learn about and assist with engineering support activities.

  • Provide ancillary support to security teams, learning how to conduct basic system security assessments to validate compliance.

  • Work with your team to follow established processes and assist in identifying areas for system optimization.

To be successful in this role, you will have:

  • The ability to maintain/transfer an active DoD Secret Security Clearance with Top Secret eligibility.

  • Bachelor's Degree in STEM (Computer Science, Information Technology, Systems Engineering, etc.) with 2 years of relevant experience.

  • OR an Associate's degree in an IT-related field with 4 years of relevant experience.

  • Must possess, or obtain within six months of hire, a DoD 8140 IAT Level II certification (e.g., CompTIA Security+, CySA+, or CCNA Security).

  • Familiarity with or willingness to learn endpoint management tools like Microsoft Endpoint Configuration Manager (MECM) for basic application deployment and patch management.

  • Basic understanding of Windows updates and enterprise patch management concepts (exposure to WSUS is a plus).

  • Foundational knowledge of virtualization concepts; exposure to VMware vSphere/ESXi environments or basic VM provisioning is highly desired.

  • Experience supporting Windows Desktop Operating Systems (Windows 10/11) and a basic understanding of Windows Server environments, Active Directory fundamentals, and DNS.

  • Some Knowledge of scripting languages for automation (e.g., basic PowerShell or Bash).

  • Exposure to basic IT monitoring tools and log analysis.

  • Ability to learn quickly, work in fast paced enterprise environments, and support large-scale infrastructure.

  • Strong problem-solving aptitude, with the ability to break down problems, ask the right questions, and collaborate on solutions.

  • Good written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to document troubleshooting steps and solutions clearly.

  • Ability to travel up to 10% of the time.

Additional desired experience and skills
  • Certificate Services / PKI Implementation to include deployment and management of Active Directory Certificate Services (ADCS), certificate enrollment, auto-enrollment, templates, and lifecycle management, understanding of SSL/TLS, CRLs, OCSP, and certificate-based authentication.

  • Ansible to include developing, maintaining, and optimizing Ansible playbooks and roles for configuration management and automated deployments, troubleshooting automation failures and improving CI/CD workflow and implementing infrastructure-as-code best practices across Linux and Windows environments.

  • Experience with Microsoft Exchange to include the administration of exchange on-prem or hybrid environments, managing mail flow, transport rules, mailbox provisioning, troubleshooting, support migrations, patching, and high availability
