Please review the following job description:

Responsible for developing and maintaining the technical IT / cyber security capabilities necessary for safeguarding the firm's information systems and applications, including all phases of the SDLC and software stack. Design, plan, test, and implement cybersecurity technology projects.

This role seeks an experienced RACF engineer in the Mainframe Security team to ensure secure access control across mainframes, including identity management, certificate administration, and encryption controls. The role involves managing user access lifecycle, privileged access, and risk management, following industry best practices such as NIST and CRI. Responsibilities include administering RACF policies, ensuring RBAC, segregation of duties, controls, and audits, collaborating with IAM, cybersecurity, infrastructure, and audit teams, and building automation scripts to streamline access provisioning and monitoring. The position also involves mentoring junior engineers and serving as a technical SME.

Essential functions include:

  1. Developing and maintaining cybersecurity capabilities across all SDLC phases, including threat modeling, SAST, SCA, DAST, and penetration testing.
  2. Leading efforts to design, enhance, and test cybersecurity technologies, including system baseline analysis and capacity planning.
  3. Recommending and planning new security technologies or modifications to existing systems.
  4. Implementing and integrating security technologies, including configuration and change management.
  5. Applying analytical models and experience to identify innovative solutions.
  6. Providing technical support and resolving security issues promptly.
  7. Leading projects with moderate complexity and resource requirements.

Qualifications

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and at least 8 years of experience in systems engineering or administration, or equivalent.
  • Deep knowledge of enterprise security technologies, including firewalls, IDS/IPS, identity management, database monitoring, encryption, and Mainframe security.
  • Experience leading complex IT projects.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree and 10+ years of experience or equivalent.
  • Banking or financial services experience.
  • Security certifications (e.g., CCNA Security, GSEC, GCED, GPPA).
  • Technical certifications (e.g., CCNA, RHCE, MCSE).
  • Security management certifications (e.g., CISSP, CRISC, CISM).
  • Understanding of financial regulatory frameworks.
  • Strong collaboration and communication skills.
  • Experience with waterfall and agile methodologies.
